IMMOBILITY DETECTION OF LONE WORKERS

Safety is one of the most important elements of every workplace. What happens when an employee falls down, loses consciousness, faints… How quickly will anyone find out about it and react appropriately? How can we ensure a high level of safety for employees who are alone at their workstation?

Implementation of the solution in a waste management company

To one of our clients, a Waste Management Plant, we proposed a solution to this problem that is based on the geolocation function.

In response to the existing problem, we installed a network of radio beacons throughout the entire plant. We also conducted intensive research and development work in the field of managing the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors in the smartphones we provide, reinforced for industrial needs. For employees who work at independent workstations without other people, we enabled the immobility detection mode.

Solution:

In accordance with the arrangements with the Client, it was set that the immobility alarm will activate 20 seconds after its detection. Then the employee can cancel the notification or confirm static work.

Confirming immobility will activate the static work mode, which will operate for 15 min. and will suppress the activation of immobility notifications. This could be, for example, a break from work or working at a computer.

After a quarter of an hour, the alarm system will restart, activating after 20 seconds of rest. In a situation where the employee does not react to the received alarm, the supervising person will receive a notification.

What does immobility detection consist of?

The alarm system is operated by a security guard, who in such a situation of an alarm appearance must contact the employee by phone. If they are not available, the security guard sends designated people to the indicated location to verify the threat.

The immobility module is an essential function for employees working independently, ensuring them a high level of safety. Thanks to this, the team is able to react quickly in a situation of threat to life or health, when seconds often count. The system has the ability to configure the time after which the alarm and notification should activate upon detection of immobility.

What does immobility detection consist of?

Automatic immobility detection and immediate notifications improved the effectiveness and efficiency of the safety management system. This is an excellent example of how the application of technology can significantly improve safety standards in workplaces.
